Itinerary Detail

Day 1: Arrival – Airport Pick-up & Hotel Transfer

Upon arrival at Entebbe International Airport, our professional guide will warmly welcome you. You will then be transferred to your hotel for check-in, followed by a briefing session to prepare you for the exciting adventure ahead. (Overnight stay at the hotel.)

After an early breakfast, set off for Lake Mburo National Park. Along the way, make a memorable stop at the Uganda Equator in Kayabwe, Mpigi District. Here, you will have the rare opportunity to stand in both the Northern and Southern Hemispheres at the same time! Enjoy the fascinating water rotation experiment and capture amazing photos.

Continuing your journey, admire Uganda’s breathtaking landscapes—rolling grasslands, interlocking hills, vast banana plantations, and the iconic Ankole long-horned cattle. You’ll also be greeted with warm smiles and cheerful waves from locals, often calling out “Muzungu, how are you?” (“Muzungu” is a term for foreigners, especially White travelers).

Upon arrival in Lake Mburo National Park in the early afternoon, enjoy lunch at your lodge before heading out for an afternoon boat cruise on Lake Mburo. Keep an eye out for crocodiles, hippos, water birds, and a variety of wildlife gathering along the shores. (Overnight stay at the lodge.)

After a morning game drive at Lake Mburo National Park, depart around 11:30 AM for Lake Bunyonyi, a scenic two-hour drive through Mbarara City.

Upon arrival, enjoy a delicious lunch at one of the lakeside lodges before heading out on a boat excursion to explore some of Lake Bunyonyi’s famous islands. Visit the “Punishment Islands”, where, during ancient times, young girls who became pregnant out of wedlock were abandoned as a form of punishment. You’ll also see Bushara Island, where people with leprosy were once taken for treatment during the colonial era.

Spend the evening unwinding at your lodge, surrounded by Uganda’s most picturesque lake views. (Overnight stay at the lodge.)

Enjoy an early breakfast at Lake Bunyonyi before receiving a briefing from your guide about the day’s highlight—Gorilla Trekking in Mgahinga National Park, located in Kisoro District.

The drive to Mgahinga National Park takes 1-2 hours, offering stunning views of steep valleys, winding roads, and dramatic hills. Upon arrival, get ready for the ultimate wildlife experience—tracking the endangered mountain gorillas in their natural habitat. The trek can take several hours, depending on the movement of the gorilla families.

After an exhilarating Gorilla Trekking adventure, check in at your lodge for a well-deserved lunch. If time permits, you may take an optional visit to Kyanika Border (Rwanda) or Bunagana Border (Democratic Republic of Congo) to unwind and take in more of the region’s unique cultural experiences. (Overnight stay at the lodge.)

After an early breakfast, begin the journey back to Kampala. The drive is long, but you’ll have scenic stops along the way to stretch and take in more of Uganda’s beauty.

Upon arrival in the evening, you will be transferred directly to the airport for your departure flight, or to a hotel of your choice depending on your schedule. Alternatively, you may opt for a domestic flight to Entebbe if you prefer a shorter return journey.
